From performance to presence — through voice, awareness, and healing

About Jiu Jian

Jiu Jian is a Mindfulness Vocal Coach, certified Mindfulness Hypnotherapist (NGH & ICBCH), Transformational Life Coach, and RYT® 200 Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher.

His integrative approach combines mindfulness, emotional awareness, voice work, creative embodiment, and subconscious integration to support holistic healing, authentic self-expression, and personal transformation.

With a strong focus on emotional wellness, mind-body awareness, and conscious communication, he guides individuals from different backgrounds and walks of life in transforming stress, trauma, emotional stagnation, and inner disconnection into greater clarity, resilience, grounded presence, and emotional balance.

Blending decades of artistic experience with mindfulness-based practices, Jiu Jian offers a unique approach to mindfulness vocal coaching, singing lessons, vocal lessons, speech coaching, emotional healing, and voice-based self-discovery in Singapore.

A Journey Rooted in Voice and Story

Jiu Jian’s journey began as a singer-songwriter. At the age of 19, he won the Best Song Award at the 5th Xin Yao Festival, launching a music career that later earned him the Meritorious Award from COMPASS in 2013 — becoming the youngest and first recipient in the Mandarin pop category.

From 1993 to 2003, he worked in professional radio broadcasting with Rediffusion, SAFRA Radio FM88.3, and NTUC Radio Heart FM100.3. During those years, he hosted heart-to-heart talk shows in collaboration with local counselling center, creating safe spaces for emotional sharing through voice, storytelling, and meaningful conversations.

He is also the author of two books — Emotional Diary 心情日记 and The Next Song 下一首歌 — both reflecting the emotional journeys of his listeners alongside his own healing path.

In addition, his written lyrics and contributions were featured in Writer Chicken Soup 作家鸡汤, a collection of poems and inspirational reflections by 120 local Mandarin authors, as well as Singapore Soundscape – Musical Renaissance of a Global City, published by the National Library Board Singapore, documenting Singapore’s music scene from the 18th to 21st century.

From Artistry to Social Healing

Since 2009, Jiu Jian has expanded his artistic journey into creative education and community healing.

He has supported the Yellow Ribbon Project under Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs through songwriting and singing competitions for inmates, motivational talks, performances within correctional institutions, and mentorship initiatives that encourage emotional expression and personal growth.

He has also contributed to more than 30 Arts Education Programmes (AEP) across schools and special needs institutions, using music, mindfulness, storytelling, and vocal expression to cultivate emotional awareness, confidence, and self-expression in youth.

Jiu Jian is also currently undergoing the Train-the-Trainer programme under Caring for Life (CFL), a Singapore suicide prevention charity that promotes greater awareness of suicide prevention and community-based emotional support. This ongoing training reflects his continued commitment to emotional wellness education, compassionate communication, and suicide resilience awareness within the community.

The Turning Inward

Behind the spotlight, Jiu Jian faced deep emotional struggles rooted in childhood and adolescent trauma. These challenges intensified during his military service and eventually led to a diagnosis of severe depression at the age of 32.

During those darkest periods, he began turning inward — rediscovering healing through music, mindfulness, meditation, spirituality, breath awareness, and self-reflection.

These lived experiences became the foundation of his lifelong commitment to supporting others through mindfulness, emotional healing, vocal awareness, therapeutic voice work, and mind-body integration.

From Stage to Sanctuary

From Performance to Presence

Founded in 2019, Jiu Jian’s Mindfulness Vocal & Healing Sanctuary is a calm, heart-centered healing space in Singapore — where voice meets awareness, and where healing begins with sound.

Through mindfulness vocal coaching, singing lessons, vocal lessons, speech coaching, hypnotherapy, and somatic awareness practices, Jiu Jian supports clients in releasing stress, regulating emotions, restoring inner balance, and reconnecting with their authentic selves.

His work also supports professionals who rely heavily on their voices — including teachers, coaches, trainers, speakers, sales professionals, presenters, broadcasters, performers, and artistes — helping them develop healthier vocal habits, confident communication, vocal presence, emotional authenticity, and sustainable voice usage.

By integrating mindfulness-based vocal techniques, conscious breathing, emotional awareness, clinical hypnotherapy, and body-based practices, his sessions support both artistic growth and emotional well-being.

As an Associate Therapist at Amity Therapy, Jiu Jian also offers professional hypnotherapy sessions within a clinical environment, allowing clients the flexibility to choose between a private home-studio setting or a professional therapy space based on their comfort and needs.

Philosophy & Vision

Healing is not about perfection — it is about presence.

Through mindful awareness of the body, breath, emotions, and sound, we learn to meet ourselves with honesty, compassion, and acceptance. In that awareness, pain can gradually transform into insight, resilience, wisdom, and inner clarity.

At Jiu Jian’s Mindfulness Vocal & Healing Sanctuary, every voice becomes a bridge between self-expression and self-healing.

Let healing begin with the sound

I have been with Jiu Jian's Mindful Singing class for 2 years. Always wanted to find a singing teacher and I am glad that I finally found one.

I have always had problems with my high notes but with Jiu Jian's unique coaching, i finally can find my range.

His style is very different from most singing teachers i know. Besides just singing he would explained to Mindful. So singing mindfully makes the lessons so much more interesting.

I look forward to each class as he shows me how to relax and then sing with a purpose. The experience is almost heavenly. you hv to experience it one your own.

I really appreciate your quiet confidence and fierce kindness. There is a lot of grace in how you carry yourself, and how you see and treat the world. I learn by watching the best. Thank you for first seeing something in me.
